Greenlight has a fast 48-hour NATA accredited asbestos testing service open to metro Melbourne, regional Victoria, or interstate.
Our reports are colour coded and can, optionally, include photos that you take of the material for clearer communication of the results with other stakeholders or interested parties.
See an example Report here.
Our asbestos testing service has four options:
We recommend the fourth option here – if our consultant collects the samples, we will perform a risk assessment of the material, note the extent and friability of the material for your report and can provide guidance on site for any other materials you may want to have tested. However if all you are needing is a quick yes or no – the other services are available to you.
Detailed instructions on how to collect and package the asbestos testing samples are included in the form below once you have selected your option. Once complete you will receive a chain of custody to your nominated email account – print this out and include with your samples.
No printer? No problems – just mark the samples with the appropriate sample number and include your name and contact number with the samples – we will take care of the rest.
You can download detailed instructions here, otherwise the form should tell you everything you need to know.
If you have any questions, please call us on 03 9048 4411 and we will be happy to talk you through any issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
How big a sample do we need?
A piece about the size of a 50cent coin is ideal for most materials. If the material is either vinyl tile or seamless vinyl – please collect a piece the size of a credit card. If the material is loose, such as loose fill insulation, about half a cup is adequate. Please note for loose fill insulation, we strongly recommend having one of our consultants collect the sample.
How are samples analysed for asbestos?
Samples are analysed in our NATA accredited laboratory under a Stereomicroscope. Selected fibres are analysed by Polarised Light Microscopy in conjunction with dispersion staining techniques including Synthetic Mineral Fibre and Organic Fibre as per the Australian Standard AS 4964-2004 Method for the qualitative identification of asbestos in bulk samples.
How do we pay?
The online form above has a payment gateway that accepts Visa, Master Card or Amex. We do not currently accept payments for this service by direct debit. You can also pay by cash if dropping samples off. Cheques are accepted, however may cause delays due to processing times.
When will I receive the report?
You will receive a report, at the latest, by COB of the next business day, following the day we receive your asbestos testing samples. Please note our office hours are Monday to Friday 9AM to 5 PM
How do I seal the materials for delivery?
There are detailed instructions on the form, however in brief – please seal the sample inside a plastic ziplock bag and seal (a sandwich bag is fine). Place all samples inside a second plastic ziplock bag and seal. Place this inside a plain envelope marked with our address – Greenlight Environmental Services Pty Ltd, Office 24, 15 Cochranes Rd, MOORABBIN VIC 3189
