Workplaces or remediation companies may wish to engage our services for one of two main reasons:
- As a validation of Deep Cleaning Works in order to independently assess and prove the quality of works;
- As a screening exercise within a workplace as part of an ongoing due diligence program.

Deep Clean Validation Assessment – 1,950.00 + GST – carried out as validation of a deep clean exercise – includes inspection of the workplace to assess the quality of works, collection of up to five samples analysed in a NATA accredited laboratory for COVID-19. Reporting provided by COB next business day. Additional samples are available for 250.00 + GST per sample.
To ensure your deep clean is carried out effectively – be sure the company carrying out works is IICRC accredited. There are many unqualified companies currently offering these services.
Workplace Screening – Basic Screen – 1,950.00 + GST including the collection of up to five samples analysed in a NATA accredited laboratory. Reporting provided by COB next business day. Additional samples are available for 250.00 + GST per sample.
Workplace Screening – Forensic – 3,200.00 + GST including the collection of up to ten samples analysed in a NATA accredited laboratory. Reporting provided by COB next business day. Additional samples are available for 220.00 + GST per sample.
How Long Does Coronavirus last on surfaces?
Many people would like to know how long coronavirus can last on a surface. It is important to note that research is ongoing, however, there are two studies that have come up with some answers which you can read here:
- Aerosol and Surface Stability of SARS-CoV-2 as Compared with SARS-CoV-1 (New England Journal of Medicine, April 16, 2020).
- Stability of SARS-CoV-2 in different environmental conditions (The Lancet, May 1 2020).
These studies have found the following retention times for coronavirus on a surface:
Plastic – 3 to 7 Days
Stainless steel – 3 to 7 Days
Copper – Up to 4 hours
Paper – Up to 4 Days
Glass – Up to 4 Days
Cardboard – 24 Hours
Wood – Up to 2 Days
Can We Collect Samples Ourselves?
Many people would like to know how long coronavirus can last on a surface. It is important to note that research is ongoing, however, there are two studies that have come up with some answers which you can read here:
- To avoid the possibility of samples being contaminated by the tester – this could happen, because of cross-contamination, improper sampling techniques or inadequate PPE (remember the tester themselves could be infected!). Our consultants are regularly tested for coronavirus themselves and wear appropriate PPE to avoid contamination. - Qualified Occupational Hygienists – Our consultants are trained and qualified occupational hygienists with significant industry experience testing workplaces for a variety of hazards.
- To avoid conflict of interest – Testers are possibly conflicted if they work within an organisation and have a real or perceived interest in the test being passed. While the tester may carry out the work well and adequately, the results may be questioned if such a conflict exists.

How are Surface Samples Tested for Coronavirus?
The samples are analysed by a NATA accredited laboratory in Melbourne using an accredited screening process for all SARS related Coronavirus RNA – e.g. SARSCoV, MERS-CoV & SARS-CoV-2.
For the purposes of screening a workplace or verifying the adequacy of a deep clean, you really don’t want any of these viruses to be present. Results are presented as Present / Absent.
If elected, you could have the samples analysed further to determine which particular virus is present, however regardless of this result, the recommendations would remain the same (restrict area and have cleaned), so this further testing is regarded as unnecessary unless elected by our clients.
Can We Have Coronavirus Surface Testing for an Entire Workplace?

Our Process
After you make your booking, we’ll have our first available consultant come out to your site to safely collect samples and take notes on the quality of cleaning works (if the sampling is for deep clean validation).
The samples will be transported to a NATA accredited laboratory under a chain of custody on the same day as testing. Your report will then be ready within 48-hours.
